Design: Medical & Clinical
Artisan - Is a Pathology Slide Stainer designed with Altitude and Product Genesis. The system automates the process of highlighting cellular features in tissue samples. Pathologists use Artisan to select a sequence of dyes and washes, which ensure accuracy and repeatability, while reducing the workload on technicians. The design process focused on defining the overall architecture and interaction, then designing cost-effective consumables. Heartwave - Is a system that can predicted the likelihood of death due to cardiac failure. Designed with Altitude and Cambridge Heart, the Heartwave measures electrical currents that pass through the heart during a stress test. The system involved many electrical leads that must be correctly connected to the patient and the device. The design resulted from observing users and patients, and focused on creating an intuitive process of set-up. IV Bag Compounder - Designed with ADL and a major medical instument brand, this compounder was designed to accurately combine 24 different ingredients to create a patient-specific IV bag. Informed by interviews and observation of the process, the product was created from the ground up to provide a user-friendly experience within a sterile work environment. Inhaler - Designed with Altitude, this inhaler ensures accurate dosing of inhaled medication. The design resulted from extensive user research and collaboration with pharmacological experts and engineers. Viral Inactivation Device - Designed with ADL and a major medical instrument brand. This product inactivates viruses in blood plasma. The product was built from the ground-up to expose plasma to a meter does of light, while ensuring uniform exposure and maintaining a specific temperature. Working with an engineer and the medical team, the process involved extensive research, translated into a device that fit seamlessly into the blood collection and distribution process.
